Horses enjoying a day off

     Its getting dry here after a very wet spring. I am sure we will get more rain and we are finally ready for it. The horses even make dust as they run and play in the evening sun. Goofing off is good for all of us now and then.

 

     Some will say that I goof off too much. They see me doing old fashioned things like plowing with my horses and write me off as a lunatic. I can only say that when I look around the neighborhood. I am just as far along with my farming as everybody else. Its all relative, 1/2 done is 1/2 done, no matter if you have 2 acres or 200 acres. I manage with my small equipment while they race headlong with the monster equipment they choose. We both finish and are satisfied… I sometimes even finish first allowing more time for goofing off 😮

 

     I encourage you to work hard, but when the work is done…take a break! Do something fun, visit a friend, watch an old movie or go for a walk. This down time helps your well being. It allows you to push even harder at the next task because you are rested, both body and mind.

 

 I will let my big time farming neighbors drive themselves into the grave. They push for big profits and service large debt. I will hold the lines, take my time and rest just as well as they do… perhaps better. I will take a minute to fish, hunt or hike. I will even sit for a bit with my wife on the porch … goofing off … no way … It’s called living man, really living!
