Bree, the left hand horse and Amee wait as I fill the manure spreader. Hank shows his best side as he photobombs the picture. This is all part of Bree’s training. she not only learns all about different pieces of equipment, she also needs to learn to stand quiet and wait until I ask hem to move. Like all youngsters, this is a hard lesson at times. She is doing quite well.
So far she has been on the manure spreader, the hay wagon, the disc, a forecart and the hay rake. Yesterday, she even pulled the garden cultivator and potato hilling plow. Our summer intern lead her for that job, but Bree did quite well and the garden survived her missteps. Her training is continuing and intensifying as we go.

The corn is a bit spotty from the early season drought, but I have replanted in the gaps. It will all work out.

Joy too is in a learning phase. Here she is going to work with mom. We just made a short walk down the drive and back. Joy took in the noise of the harness, the urging from mom as we walked and turned. Joy took it very well and was a perfect little lady.
Summer is in full swing. The job list is large but with patience and joy I will tackle it daily…with a smile on my face!
