Well, goodbye June, hello July! We attended the annual draft horse event called Horse Progress Days. This year the travelling show was held in Indiana. It was well attended to say the least. There were all sorts of draft horse and farming things to see. Many types of equipment was shown in use and being pulled by draft power. There were speakers on many topics, sheep herding demos, and a whole bunch of vendors! The vendors sold almost everything that you can think of regarding horses, farming and homesteading. We had a great time.

Rob Collins from Tillers International was there with the yoke of oxen named Hamilton and Burr. These guys were neat to see.

Many pieces of equipment were trialed and demonstrated. Here my friend Ken Laing from Ontario Canada, prepares to haul a load of compost. Several types of spreaders, plows and tillage equipment, mowers, rakes and balers were shown off. The manufacturers were present so questions could be asked and deals were made. It is an informative, well run event.

We helped out in the North American Suffolk Horse Association booth. My wife is in charge of the promotional items like t-shirts, hats and cups. Our nonprofit “Saving Suffolks” is selling tickets to win this EZ Trail forecart. Selling the tickets helps to fund our organization as we promote , present and preserve the critically endangered Suffolk horse. You can learn more by going to WWW.Savingsuffolks.com
We are back home, catching up with all sorts of stuff. The garden weeds exploded while we were gone. The lawn needed trimmed and of course the barn needed sprucing up. The job list is full but manageable and we are making progress on several projects…more news on that later. Summer is flying by and here we are at the halfway point, or so it seems.
