Organization

This was part of our old corn crib and grain bin. I only need one section of corn crib now, since our farming needs have changed. I will grow enough corn to finish out a couple of pigs each year. I also give the horses an ear each when the weather gets real cold. The sixteen foot by four foot by seven foot crib section that we still have, will easily hold the amount we will grow from now on.

I have decided to open up this space in the overhang of the shop. It will allow me to back my horse drawn manure spreader, my log cart and a couple of forecarts into it for storage. It will make things better than having to pull out three pieces of equipment to get to the piece I want every time, especially in the winter!

I still have a little more to do, but this project is moving along nicely.

I had to rebuild the main header so that I could remove some of the old corn crib pole supports. That went quite well. This is the largest opening. One more will be completed very soon. That section will create an opening of about twelve feet. The opening in the picture is just a little shy of sixteen feet. I have to move a little of my treasure in the picture, but then this space will work out well I think.

Organization is a wonderful thing. The ease of daily tasks makes life enjoyable. As I get older, dragging all that equipment out of my way, just to move it all again later in the same day, makes for a long day! Pulling up, backing the horses around and unhooking will be wonderful! Having equipment that I use almost daily in an accessible place is great. That same equipment not littering up the driveway pleases my wife very much too.

Organization in this manner leads to a happy wife. A happy wife leads to a happy life, so this little project will make a big impact!
