As 2023 comes to a close, I snapped this picture of some of our horses. Three of the four are a direct result of our Suffolk horse breeding program.
From left to right; Grace our two year old. She was our baby that fell down the hand dug well. She has started her training and will very soon be a part of our farming operation. Next is our matron mare Rosie. She came to us from Canada. She is a full sister to our son’s horses and a half sister to three of ours. She is expecting her first foal in 2024 with our stallion Hank.
The third horse is our yearling filly Maggee. She is Grace’s full sister. Maggee has a pushy attitude, so we have started her training a bit early to keep her mind occupied and her manners in check. The fourth horse is our 2023 baby Joy. She is learning barn manners and all that comes with being a draft horse. She is a sweetheart and is doing well. Joy is Abby and Hank’s first baby. We really like what we see.

Hank, on the right, works with our Abby. These two are Joy’s parents. I look forward to the day when Joy takes her place in a team.
There are many hopes and plans ahead for us in 2024, but the one thing that I know for sure is that we are blessed. Farm work and horse work are in store and with the line up in the photo… I am ready!
