We enjoyed some frozen ground. The snow was pretty light, but the deep freeze was upon us. The horses liked the ability to run, romp and roll. I liked having clean boots and being able to go anywhere on the farm with horses or machines. It was very cold with a few windy days mixed in for good measure, but God’s concrete was wonderful.
I was able to retrieve round bales made last summer and stored along a field edge. I did that job quickly and without making any ruts. I have them now positioned along the drive where I can get them no matter what the weather does.
Maple season will be here very soon. I was hoping to get all the sap roads cleared off of fallen debris and down trees while the ground was frozen hard. Oh well, we will get it done, just have to get muddy doing it.
Its the time of year for property taxes, garden planning and machinery repair. The frozen ground made it nice for outside things. It was wonderful while it lasted…and its gone!
Who knows what the weather holds for us? I will take heart in the fact that spring is coming fast and just make the best of it. The days are getting longer. If we get some more frozen ground, I will welcome it, if not, I will deal with what we get and smile.
