We are harvesting a few white pine trees to be sawed into lumber for an upcoming project. The trees we chose to cut are either very mature, or blocking light from reaching our young oaks or maples. The marked tree in the foreground is one that is blocking the sunlight from a young growing red oak tree.

The team in the photo belongs to our youngest son Jake. Their names are Anna and Belle. They did a good job. We enlisted the help of our friends the Nidys. They are also Suffolk horse owners. So, we made it a “fun” day in the woods.

I was the chainsaw guy, teacher and chain monkey. The chain monkey helps hook up and choke the logs to be dragged out. Things went very well. Sam the border collie kept a watchful eye on all the happenings too.

The young teamsters learned a little. The horses all gained confidence. I got a little bit of my work done in the name of fun. Believe me when I say, we did indeed have a fun day with our November harvest!
