March 16, 2025
After a long cold winter and a bout with pneumonia, I am catching up with my manure. This lot was a wreck of frozen manure, ice and compacted snow. The skid steer had been in the shop for a much needed servicing. We got it back Saturday. That thing is a work saver! It still took me over two hours to get things to this point. The other section of the feedlot is still frozen and I am running out of room. I will work that up as soon as I can spread it on the fields and it thaws out.
It will soon be foaling time. Some of the mares are about six weeks away from their due dates. Hank, our stallion, bred his first mare of 2025 last week. We had a visiting female from out of town. She is a registered Suffolk too. So, I guess I can say that the breeding season is underway.

This is Hank’s baby picture. He was an April baby from 2019. He has grown and learned well. He is the foundation of our efforts here at the farm. He has made us a few beautiful babies. His attitude is great and he is a work horse to boot!

Here he is, chilling and enjoying part of his supper. He is my buddy!
We will be working in the fields very soon. Hank will be a fixture in both field work and logging this year as we complete a few farm projects! Now, I am just making my Mid-March plans and thanking God for our many blessings.
