All Fenced In

The barn renovation is coming to a close. The adjoining feedlot extension got new fence. We repurposed the old guard rail from the previous fence. This has been welded in place. It won’t be complete until an additional 2 hot electric wires are added. The hot wire will keep the animals from reaching over or through the fence.

Reaching over and reaching through must be thought about when keeping a stallion. He is a good boy, but when temptation is right on the other side of the fence…it needs to be strong. Plus, I don’t want any of them reaching through to get a blade of grass and getting hurt in the process.

The addition is just over ten feet wide, but it will allow easy access to the barn and also to the manure stack area. It looks huge to me. Its just over 4000 more square feet of space for the animals too. It should be easy to clean. I already know that is sheds the water good…almost like we planned it! In this case, it feels good to be all fenced in!

The recent cool days are signaling Autumn’s approach. Only the siding and doors remain to finish the barn renovation project. It will be all buttoned up soon, just in time for winter. I’m sure the horses will approve.
