October 30, 2025
Halloween is tomorrow. Our newly weaned babies are not scared. Their daddy Hank will watch over them and keep them safe from any boogymen! Here, Hank checks them out ever so close to the electric fence. He’s not scared either.
The 2025 foals have been introduced to the rest of the “littles”. They will now live with the yearlings and a couple of Hank daughters. Their stall training and ground work begins now. They are doing great.

They have already learned to tie and lead. They next learn basic commands like “get over, back, gee and haw”. They will also get haircuts and learn to stand for longer periods of time each day. They get plenty of turnout time and lots of hands on love from me.
October comes to a close and winter looms large. We are not scared. We are looking forward to exciting times ahead filled with learning and new experiences. In a few days, Jaimee will be stabled next to his soon to be, teammate, Murtagh his half brother.
Murtagh is a year older but still a baby at 18 months old. He too is learning the routine. I am going slow with him, giving him time to settle in and learn my way of doing things. He was gelded a week ago. His attitude has already changed, removing testicles has a way of doing that. I look forward to great things from him and Jaimee in due time.
Today, it is raining and has been raining since last night. Just three days ago I dumped 4.75 inches of rain out of the gauge. As I write, we are closing in on 1.75 more inches just from this storm. The moisture is welcomed after a long dry late summer and fall. I will say though that today we are soggy. Places in the pasture look like small lakes.
The weatherman is calling this rain, “lake effect rain”, so I am glad its not snow!
