December to Remember

It has been a very busy month so far. We had the honor to give a lady her “last ride” We turned out in style with our funeral wagon and our Suffolk mares in their dress clothes.

This is our son Jake’s team. They did great. They did this job in style for sure. Later that same week, we were asked to haul “Santa” for the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas parade. We had a blast.

It was a cold night, but Santa didn’t care. He felt right at home. I followed his lead and wore my mittens too!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of taking some out of state guests to look at Percheron horses. I am a Suffolk Punch man now, but I still like a good pair of Percherons!

We were looking for horses that had to fit a tight range of wants. They had to be very well broke. They had to be the right size and body confirmation. They had to have a kind and willing attitude.

We went to several barns and looked at many horses. We had a good time visiting with farmers and teamsters. We were successful in our quest. We found a pair of ladies looking for a new address. They checked every box.

I look forward to the new life these ladies will get to enjoy. I am even more thankful for the young couple who found the “fit” they desired. The lady on my right is a blue roan horse. Her teammate is black. They are sized right and have been working together for many years. They are safe and kid friendly. It was a December to Remember already!
