King and Henny Penny

     In our recently purchased flock of laying hens, came this lone Buckeye pullet. She is a feisty one. She rules the roost, so to speak 😮  She was the first chicken that King is getting to know. He thinks he might like chickens. She, however,  is sure that she hates dogs!

 

     King went to the vet today. He got a puppy shot and a clean bill of health. He gained nine pounds in the last three weeks and now weighs over twenty-seven pounds and is eleven weeks old. The hen better beat him up now….

 

     Friends are a great gift. I am blessed to have some very good ones. I mean the kind you tell secrets to, knowing they will be guarded for life. They can be called in the middle of the night to help catch animals, check on a loved one or pick you up in jail. I have never been to jail, but it is good to know that if I ever get there, I have a few people who would come and get me, no matter what I did.

 

     I don’t make friends real easy,though I am friendly to everyone I meet. I trust people, probably too much these days, but I give everyone a clean slate. I figure if they screw it up, that it is on them. I have been disappointed by a few, hurt by a few more and a couple of times completely dumbfounded. It all works out. I have wished a few well hoping to never see them again, but I  know that I would help them out if needed … I just don’t want anything to do with them. Thankfully, those type of people are not many in my life. I have been blessed instead with a whole bunch of kind-hearted folks who would do anything for me … and I them.

 

     Our world is hard enough to live in, without dwelling on the past or the insensitivity of some rude individual. Laugh it off, curse under your breath if you must, but let it roll off your back like water off a duck. Never argue with an idiot..they are experts who will bring you down to their level. Walk away knowing that you are the better person and smile as you go … This is a very nice way to say, “piss on you!”   … and the only one who will know, is you 😮

 

     I think the best part of having a friend is being a friend. Be the one your pals can turn to when life throws them a curve. Lend a hand when needed and help someone out of a sticky spot. Do it all with your mouth shut…unless it is open just enough to give encouragement.

 

     Lastly, to my friends and family I just want to say thank you and I love you …. to the rest of you ……. I’m just going to smile 😮
