Today we gathered all the sap. We wanted to be ready for the next warm up. I fooled with this photo for over an hour. I was sure I had it rotated, but alas, it was Friday the 13th, and so it goes!

We collected about 500 gallons of sap. I cooked it down, but got no syrup. The pans are now sweet, so from here on out, the liquid gold will start to fill our sugarhouse. The trees simply don’t want to wake up yet. They are being very greedy with their sap. Monday temperatures look good, so we shall see.

The Mill Creek valley is flooded. I am glad that I didn’t tap there yet…it would put a whole new spin on the phrase “swimming in sap”  😮
