Our weather went from wet to dry so fast that it almost caught us off guard. The tree frogs had to find shady spots too. This little guy is keeping an eye on the diesel tank, or perhaps me?

This little girl is growing up fast. We have been paying attention to her, but this past week she was on her own. The hay crop got cut, raked and finally baled yesterday. I was scrambling to take advantage of the great weather.

58 nice round bales, all made and put away. We still have a ways to go, but this sure helps!

I haven’t even tried to get to the garden yet. The hay crop was the first priority. We will still buy more from other farmers, but here on our farm, first cutting is done. This is one of the earliest hay seasons that I can remember.
Making dry hay for horses is a challenge every year. This year the ground dried quickly. The hay grew fast and started to head out. Timing is crucial when making hay and this year was no different, except it came FAST!
Now, the next job is to start mowing pastures and spread more of last winters compost on the fields. There is no lack of work for sure…but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
