The visitors and friends who come to see our sugarhouse and maple syrup operation are many. People enjoy learning about the process and seeing this old fashioned farm job come to life.
The young man in the photo had a good time walking through the mud. He understood that the arch was “HOT” and he liked the taste of the sweet sryup. His most favorite thing however, was the horses. The minute he heard the bells on their harness he perked up from head to toe!
He would run to the sugarhouse door to see out. He would point and jabber. There was no question that the horses were his favorite. I understand his excitement. I too like to see horses, my own and those of others. I guess when it comes to horses, I too am a child.
I thought for a bit about the luxury of being a kid. The responsibilities are all but non-existent. Mom and Dad have to feed, clothe and keep us warm. There are no worries, except maybe bedtime when it’s still daylight! Even when the sun is still out and you lay down your head, there are no worries, so sleep is blissful.
I would not change a thing about my station in life. Oh sure I could complain about stuff, but in the big picture … Life is wonderful! I will just continue to look at things through the eyes of a child. I will seek the wonder in all things … and when it’s time for bed, I will give my worries and struggles to God, he will work on them while I enjoy the blissful sleep of a child 😮
