The horses enjoy the first grass of 2013

Finally, the weather and sun think it is Spring! The soil is drying and soon we will be in the fields. We are almost out of hay, so the green grass is a welcome sight. The horses got to enjoy a few hours of it today…and boy did they like it 😮
I like to introduce them to the fresh grass on full stomachs. It makes them eat a little less of the rich grass. This leads to a better job when it comes to stable clean up …for me! The manure stays in a lumpy, rather than liquid form. I think its easier on their systems too.
We are working feverishly on several projects. Fencing, early lamb weaning, equipment maintenance and daily chores. I am working around that off-farm job that helps pay the bills, but gets in my way quite often! Oh well .. at least Spring has finally Sprung!
